What else can you do to improve your health whether you are using hormones or not?

Be active, get more exercise, and don’t smoke

Eat right and control your weight. Try adjusting your diet to include vegetables and fish that are high in Omega-3 as they contain nutrients that can help your body deal with menopause naturally.

Avoid caffeine, sugar, fatty dairy products, salt, alcohol and saturated oils which may aggravate the menopausal symptoms.

Supplement and herbs like vitamin E, soy products and black cohosh may be beneficial.

Talk with your doctor, nurse or pharmacist, and have regular check ups

Discuss bone health; ask if you should take calcium and vitamin D

Have your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar checked

Have a breast exam and a breast X-ray (mammogram).
6. You can try alternative therapies such as the following:
- Vaginal dryness - You can use an over-the-counter water-based sexual lubricant (such as K-Y Jelly) or moisturizers for the vaginal area to make sex less painful.
- Hot flushes - Wear cotton cloth, stay in a cool temperature, drink more water and avoid common triggers e.g. spicy food & alcohol.
- Sleeping problem - exercise during day time, relaxation technique such as yoga and meditation.
- Bone problem - drink more milk, increase intake of calcium containing foods such as cheese and yogurt as well as taking calcium supplement.
